Welcome to the John Ed Keeter Public Library's Adult Basic Education & Literacy program! Our mission is to enrich our city by providing a free, diversified, and accessible educational program for adults. We are thankful for the help of our many volunteer tutors in bringing this program to life.
We are currently offering classes and/or tutoring in:
Adult Literacy (in English and Spanish)
English as a Second Language
US Citizenship Preparation
Registration and Orientation
To register for Free Adult Literacy and Adult Basic Education classes, students must have an active (not expired) Saginaw library card account set-up with the library.
The ESL & Adult Literacy Classes are offered in semesters: Fall and Spring. Students must register for the classes and attend ONE orientation session to participate in the semester. Students will have the opportunity to participate in the World of Words Project each year and be invited to go on an annual field trip.

Available Resources Free Language-Learning Software
For ESL students who prefer to learn on their own or would like to practice outside of class, we have dedicated computer stations at the Library with Rosetta Stone language-learning software. In addition, students may access Pronunciator 24/7 with their library card number.

Citizenship test preparation is also available through Pronunciator. Choose "English (American)" as the language you want to study, then choose the ProCitizen course. Pronunciator can be accessed at home or in the Library.
